We were dispersed from our homeland with no point of return, banished from knowing our true origins from which womb was born the source of the paradise we once lived in. Yet, we carried with us the full heritage of our Afro-descendant roots, which today stands as our greatest pride. We commemorate it, we celebrate it, in all its forms. We were united through adversity, and from that unity we built the foundation of our people. This is a tribute to those who gave their lives daily in resistance. Across every continent where the Afro-descendant has settled, the flames of Black consciousness have blossomed and continue to burn brightly ensuring that, from generation to generation, these words are passed on: “Proud to be who I am.
